OVP doctors of optometry are primary health-care professionals who examine, diagnose, treat, manage and help prevent diseases and disorders affecting the visual system, the eye and related structures. Optometrists also assist in diagnosing general health conditions.
With at least six years of university training, your OVP optometrist is specially trained to provide all the elements of first-class eye care, including an essential comprehensive optometric eye exam. All practising optometrists are licensed by the Board of Examiners in Optometry in British Columbia, the profession’s province-wide regulatory body.
Every OVP optometrist is also a member of the British Columbia Association of Optometrists (BCAO). Its mandate is to uphold and enhance both the professional and public standing of optometry within the province. BCAO strives to maintain the highest standards of professional skill and knowledge. The BCAO and the OVP are dedicated to promoting public awareness about eye-health and eye-safety.
